The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 gives a general statutory right of access to all types of recorded information held by Scottish public authorities. The Act came fully into force on 1 January 2005. From that date, any person can receive any information that they request from a public authority, subject to certain exemptions and conditions.
The Act also requires all Scottish public authorities to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme which sets out the types of information they publish, how this information is published and what, if any, charges apply. The purpose of a Publication Scheme is to ensure that a significant amount of information is available to the public without the need for specific requests to be made.
The South of Scotland European Partnership Global Grants Body is an operationally independent unit of Dumfries and Galloway Council and hence is covered by the Council's Publication Scheme. |
